The event was much better organized this time. The starting numbers were delivered by mail to everybody who registered online. My number was 1026. Curious fact: I walked past number 1025 when leaving the parking lot. Furthermore, we did start at the scheduled time, instead of the 45 minutes of delay of last year.
This time I made sure that I started near the front. This time I only hopped from group to group, instead of overtaking and being delayed by loads of people on small roads.
Nevertheless, this 10 km was hard. The heart rate is an indication how much effort I put in, and it was excessively high:

I never knew that I could maintain these heart rates for such an amount of time. In fact, I didn't even know that I could still reach a heart rate of 201. The device did not malfunction: with these heart rates, you're experiencing a lack of oxygen, and my breathing was erratic, especially during the last part, with the feeling that you're suffocating and all the insides are burning.
I did look relatively normal at the end of the run though:
Still, my time was not much better than the Utrecht Singelloop more than half a year ago. I had the impression that I improved a lot in the mean time, although that might have been more on the longer distances. Then again, it was extremely hot and sunny now, and I was still recovering from biking to Utrecht the whole week because of the bus strikes.
It was nice to participate with a running event again. The next one? I'm afraid that I am not going to participate with another running event soon.
